There was a fun little review of last night's Portland Cello Project concert in the Oregonian today:
"The Portland Cello Project aims to play unconventional pieces for the instrument, but Tuesday night at the Wonder Ballroom it was -- surprise, surprise -- two classical pieces that proved the standout performances. The first was Heitor Villa-Lobos' Bachianas Brasileiras No. 5, featuring guest vocalist Allison Armerding. Her voice enveloped the venue, a tightly-controlled instrument that held the crowd riveted. Several audience members gave her a standing ovation after she sang."
I'm hopefully getting to reprise this amazing piece with them in a few weeks on OPB radio. Thank you Villa-Lobos!
